NURUR RAHMAN KHAN
Architect, Partner, Tanya Karim NR Khan & Associates

Nurur Rahman Khan graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1990 with the highest honor in design” The Habibur Rahman Award”. He later also completed his masters from the same university with the highest grade and the”Ahsanur Rahman “Gold Medal.

He briefly taught full time in BUET and later left to concentrate on more on practice as a co-founder of Tanya Karim N. R. Khan & Associates, when on to win the IAB award and their work has been published widely both at home and abroad. Nurur Rahman Khan was a member in the executive committee of The Institute of Architects Bangladesh. He is the only Bangladeshi architect to sit as a juror for the prestigious ARCASIA Awards. He has been invited to lecture in universities in France, USA, India, Pakistan, Singapore and has lectured on Louis I Kahn. and has presented paper in many significant seminars. He has also publishes numerous papers on the "contemporary theories of architecture", "theory and criticism of urban design" and "teaching methodology of architecture". He was a visiting faculty in The University of Asia Pacific and now he is working as a visiting faculty in the BRAC University and North South University, Dhaka.

He is the Director of the 'Muzharul Islam Archive' and the founder member of 'Discourse', an organization dedicated to the advancement of architecture. He has made considerable contribution to the development of Architecture in Bangladesh in terms of professionalism and international quality of design and services.

- 1st prize in National Design Competition for Bangla Academy Building, Dhaka.

- Recipient of IAB award 2000 (Institute of Architects Bangladesh) for excellence in residential design. (Residence of Mr. & Mrs Anisul Huq at Banani, Dhaka.)

- Second Prize for “Design of Mausoleum of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman” at Zia Udyan, Shere-BanglaNagar, Dhaka in 2004.

- Third Prize for design of Shaheed Zia Memorial Complex at Kalurghat , Chittagong in 2005.
