Tanya Karim N.R.Khan & Associates emerged as an architectural firm spearheading contemporary thoughts in architecture in the summer of 1991 .The partners Tanya Karim & Nurur Rahman Khan set out to form an architectural office dedicated to bring on change in an significant architectural environment . Theoretical pretext , search for situated contemporaries adaptation of technological advancement became the trademark of this office .
The design team emerged as a registered partnership in 1993 and have gone on to provide a vast range of services with international quality .The visionary ideas of architects have led them on to win the “Institutes of architects Award 2000”and a ccommodation in 2005. They also received the Prime minister’s award in 2006. The firm also won numerous national competition projects. Their work is also appearing as first work from Bangladesh to be published in “Architecture Plus” – an international magazine distributed over 32 countries. Tanya Karim N.R.Khan & Associates has also become the stepping-stone for many upcoming architects in the country. Since both the part+ners are teaching, the work of the office and the attitude of the firm bears a direction that younger architects of the architects of the country are continuously drawn to. The firm now is one of the leading firms of the country, offering a vast array of design consultancy services ranging from architectural, interior design, landscape design & master planning to graphic design. The office still remains unparalleled in the field of corporate office design, having gained vast experience of working for their numerous multinational clientele conforming with international design parameters in the field of materials specification, networking & communications, safety & security standards, electro mechanical complexities etc.
Tanya Karim N R Khan also has vast experience in working closely with foreign consultants both at home and abroad. The design of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka was completed in conjunction with the consulting firm KTGY from Thailand. This project called for an integration of both local as well as Thai cultural elements in a contemporary design , Tanya Karim N R Khan was also entrusted with the construction management (CM) of the project ( which was completed and handed over to the clients in due time).
TKNRK Associates won two significant commissions in Bhutan, one is the head office of the Bhutan Telecom Ltd. and another is the RENEW Project at Selekha, Bhutan. These projects are going to be among the pioneering modern buildings in Bhutan.
Tanya Karim N R Khan and Associates has won numerous awards for excellence in architectural design, such as the 2000 IAB ( Institute of Architects Bangladesh) award for excellence in residential design, 1st prize for the design of the ‘Bangla Academy’, 2nd prize for design of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Masouleum, 3rd prize for a museum complex at Kalurghat, Chittagong etc.
The work of Tanya Karim N R Khan & Associates have been published widely both at home and abroad and the partner have been interviewed on many TV programs for their contribution to development of design in the country.
